Kontraster hjälper till att ge lugn till ett ljust rum som annars kanske skulle uppfattas som klinisk och lite stressigt.
Inom feng shui strävar man efter balans och harmoni mellan yin och yang samt mellan de fem elementen. Till exempel symboliserar det vita renhet och oskuld medan svart står för mystik och stillhet.
